Quilts Made from the pattern for Fantastic

Saturday, December 5th, 2015

I have asked quilters who have purchased the pattern for Fantastic to send me pictures of their finished quilts for publication here. It is so interesting to see the varied interpretations. I will add more as they are sent to me.

Melissa Kubiak is a good friend and college roommate. She helped put finishing touches on the pattern directions, and she and several members of her guild then tested the pattern. This is Melissa’s finished quilt.

Lynn VanDelden used a prepublication version of the quilt as the basis for an inspired interpretation of the design as dragons.

Look at the detail in the dragon’s head….

and the stitching.

Barbara Everill chose to stay with the original black-white-red color scheme.

Paula Pangle used a lovely gray and teal palette.

Hand X-Ray

This is the x-ray which inspired my “Les Fleurs de la Maladie” series of quilts.  To assess damage from arthritis, three pictures are taken of hands from different angles to get the best view of joints.  This oblique view has a gracefulness to me, a roundness, that called for exploration.
